Bill Hunter - RIP



There will be a public memorial service held at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne this Thursday 26th May at 2pm.
For those who cannot be in Melbourne there will be an informal public get together at the same time (2pm) at the Bondi Icebergs in the downstairs bistro, 1 Notts Avenue, Bondi Beach.

Otherwise, we invite you - whether you be in your favourite pub, a theatre, at home, in country towns, on the land, with friends - anywhere throughout Australia - on Thursday 26th - to "Raise your glass to Bill Hunter" as a salute and a final farewell to a great man.


Monica Maughan - RIP


The VABT Committee wish to express our deep sympathy to the friends and family of our beloved former President, Monica Maughan. She worked for our community and was much loved and respected by us all as a friend and colleague. We are deeply saddened to see her go.




Ray Barrett - RIP.

Ray Barrett Award-winning Australian actor has passed away at the age of 82. Ray Barrett with his Life Achievement Award at the 2005 AFI Awards. The Brisbane-born actor's long career included numerous Australian film, stage and television productions. His last film appearance was in Baz Luhrmann's epic Australia.




Bud Tingwell - RIP.

The VABT extends it's most heartfelt sympathies to Bud Tingwell's family and friends. Bud passed away in hospital on Friday May 15 after battling prostate cancer.




Joan Arnold - RIP.

A long-time Equity stalwart, Joan Arnold, died suddenly in May, 2009. Along with her husband Vic, a former branch secretary of Equity Victoria, Joan worked tirelessly (sometimes without pay) for performers from World War 2. She and Vic retired in the early 80s but Joan returned to work for Equity from the mid 80s after Vic's death. Members will remember Joan as passionately committed to her members. Joan was made an honorary life member of Equity when she retired for good in the late 90s. She was also a much valued supporter of the Victorian Actors' Benevolent Trust.
